Not a few observers see Lionel Messi (34) on the decline after his move to Paris Saint-Germain last summer. Not so Karim Adeyemi. “Messi! For me he is still the best player in the world,” said the German international in an interview with Sport1 when asked about his role models.
Messi left FC Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain last summer after 21 years. In the Barça shirt, La Pulga won the Ballon d’Or seven times. At PSG, Messi has so far been overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe.
The French international has also taken a liking to Adeyemi. “In terms of player type, I like Mbappe because he has very fast dribbling and is simply very, very good overall,” praises the Salzburg player, who has switched to Borussia Dortmund for 30 million euros.

However, he does not want to compare himself to Mbappe or other attackers, “because every player is different,” explained Adeyemi, who describes Toni Rüdiger as the toughest opponent in training for the German national team: “He is very difficult to dribble out. A very, very stubborn defender, who you’d rather not joke around with.”
