Russian Karen Khachanov, seeded No. 1, reached the semi-finals of the Zhuhai tournament, beating American Mackenzie McDonald, seeded No. 6, two sets to one (4-6, 6-4 , 6-4) in Zhuhai, Sunday night session.
Khachanov, 15th ATP player in the world, will face the winner of the match between American Sebastian Korda, seeded No. 4, and Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, seeded No. 5 in the semi-finals of the Cantonese tournament.
In the previous round of the Zhuhai Open, the Russian won against Australian qualifier Alex Bolt (6-4, 6-4).
McDonald, ranked 39th in the ATP, had dismissed the Chinese Juncheng Shang (6-4, 6-7 [3]6-3), and the Belgian Kimmer Coppejans (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).
