Karen Damen scammed on Vinted: ‘Lost money and coat’

Karen is not the first seller to be scammed via the app. Since 2020, there will be Scammed?! already paid attention to the sale of designer clothes on Vinted. If the buyer indicates in the app that the brand of a garment turns out to be fake, the seller does not get the money. But buyers also use that button if they want to keep the branded item, but don’t want to pay for it. That situation now seems to apply to Karen as well. She complains on Instagram. ‘Just got ripped off. Lost money and lost coat. What are you going to do about this?’ she asks the people behind the app.

According to the terms of use, Vinted judges who is right on these types of issues. But if, for example, you do not have the original receipt or cannot demonstrate in any other way that the item is from a designer, the buyer can sometimes be (wrongly) right and you will lose your money.

Karen’s followers simultaneously come to her aid and try to reassure her. “Had the same problem once and Vinted refunded me in full,” writes one follower. “Vinted will normally always refund your money if something goes wrong,” shared another.
