Investing in it is one of the safest and most profitable. The price of selected brands is in the tens of millions of crowns – and it is still rising. This is also why the mentioned celebrities are engaged in this business. Those who own vineyards can afford huge investments. However, they haven’t made any inroads into the world yet, they sell well thanks to the famous name.
But Karel Roden is an exception, “his” wines reap success at wine competitions here and abroad. Probably because he went his own way, he does not produce it, he agreed with winemaker and film producer Tomáš Vican. Each bottle bears his signature and motto: “Less rush, more taste,” responding to today’s hectic times, when there is no time to be around a glass with friends.
His wines follow the philosophy of famous producers. In case of a bad harvest, it is not even enough to avoid losing prestige, it is available under a different brand. Here, they can be found in wine shops and more expensive restaurants.
Their quality is evidenced by their success at the most prestigious wine competitions. The “scalps” of many well-known brands are valued, not only in Europe (in Berlin and Portugal) but also in the USA and Asia. They won gold medals at The Great American in New York, Asia Wine Trophy, IWC in San Francisco, the most prestigious tastings in the USA.
In addition to the common varieties grown here, Tomáš Vican produces an exceptional orange wine, originally from Georgia, which is one of the oldest in the world, and has been produced for eight thousand years at the Farma Pálava winery!
It is completely natural, the grape juice (many people trample it like cabbage used to be) including the skins is poured into clay amphorae, buried in the ground, where it then ripens, basically it is made by itself. These vessels are called kvevri and the wines are named after them. They come in various shades of color, from deep orange to copper.
