Actor Karel Heřmánek recently celebrated his 75th birthday. The father of five has been married twice, but the first marriage left a bitter aftertaste. Who was his first great love and what happened between them?
Living acting legend Karel Heřmánek avoided scandals all his life. Family has always been first for him. A great professional and one of the best Czech actors of all time, he never skipped social events, his family has always been everything to him.
It was the same during his first marriage, when he married the charming dentist Stanislava, with whom he has two daughters, Karolína and Kristýna.
The idyll lasted several years, but then something happened between them that remains inexplicable to this day. The actor himself never officially commented. His wife was said to have cheated on him in some way. A divorce followed. Heřmánek was heartbroken and struggled to get over the breakup of his marriage. He allegedly also promised him that he would never again allow anyone to enter his life.
He found the love of his life in dubbing
The only pain reliever for him was work. There, at least for a while, he was able to forget and drive away the dark thoughts. But in the end, love found him alone. Shortly after the divorce, he met Hana Vávrová, a TV presenter sixteen years his junior, in a dubbing studio, which caught his attention. He got brave and asked her out. “It seemed so sad to me,” Heřmánk’s wife Hana recalled in an interview for Sedmička magazine.
Neither has ever faced the age difference. “Sixteen is not a mess. Also, when our kids were sixteen, I told them they could look at strollers because their wife could be in them. I didn’t get along very well with kids of the same age. Except. school, I have always moved among the elderly “, confided Hana Heřmánková in an interview for ONA Dnes.
In 1989 their son Karel was born and a year later their son Josef. Only then did the wedding come. “Karel proposed that I get married and told my parents that they should be happy that he married me because I have two children out of wedlock,” laughed Hana. In 2001 their third child was born, whom they named František.
They live in the countryside, in the middle of Javanese forests, and they love each other as much as they did in the beginning. “You have to respect each other, not rest on your laurels and take care of the relationship. Just show your love to the other person as much as possible and show that you still appreciate them”, they described their recipe for a happy coexistence in Heřmánek.
