TRIBUNBEKASI.COM, KAAWANG — The government of Karawang Regency, West Java has been asked to enact regulations that oblige couples who want to marry or pre-wedding to do the test HIV / AIDS.
The reason is that this step was taken to prevent transmission HIV / AIDS which is increasing in number in Karawang.
Activist for the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, Iwan Somantri Amintapradja said that as many as 260 housewives (IRTs) and 43 children under five in the Karawang Regency have been detected with the HIV virus.
This is because it is not detected early on about the couple who want to get married.
“Because when you get married sometimes you are not open or honest about your illness. Or maybe you don’t know because you have never been tested for HIV,” he said on Saturday (09/24/2022).
According to him, the HIV transmission condition in Karawang is very concerning, not only IRT and young children, but there are also 42 productive ages including 33 sons and 9 daughters in Karawang Regency who have been detected with the HIV virus .
“This is an urgent situation and there are many more out there that have not been detected,” he said.
Not only that, he also stressed that the government of the Karawang regency must be aware of the HIV virus which can become a time bomb if not managed properly.
“Let’s see, our leader is a doctor, he should be more aware of the dangers of this HIV virus,” he said.
