I appeal to the National Assembly with a proposal to allow RIA to continue to maintain and repair the national road network under existing contracts until the selection of new contractors under the new open tender procedures, as well as to enable the completion of 278 unfinished highways. road sections, bridges, tunnels and others and to partially pay the sums claimed by road construction companies in order to reduce social tensions caused by mass layoffs and subsequent protests and blockades of roads and passages by their employees, Karadjov said.
He assured the deputies that this proposal does not legalize illegal contracts, they are still in force, they are the result of an open tender procedure under the Public Procurement Act, but they are limited and exceeded assignments, ie. new ones cannot be made. According to him, this is not a recognition of the amounts claimed by the contractors. Only after the completion of the audit will we determine the amount of amounts due, the minister added.
Even at this moment, which we are talking about, the road to the Vitinya pass is blocked by a 6-meter queue of cars, because this road is not repaired, Karadzhov commented. He noted that the road is not being repaired because we cannot assign any repairs, no guardrails, no nets. I am not looking for you to remove the responsibility from me, but for the National Assembly to take its share of the responsibility, in order to give me opportunities to bear my responsibility and meet the public expectations for quality maintenance of the national road network and completion in time. renovations started last year, the deputy prime minister said.
