Kirill Kaprizov reached the mark of 200 points and spent the fewest games in the club’s history, breaking the record from 2008
The Minnesota Wild defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-2 in their National Hockey League (NHL) regular season home game, extending their streak to five games.
Kirill Kaprizov (9th minute), Mats Zuccarello (22), Jared Spurgeon (30), Frederic Gaudreau (60) scored for the hosts, Marc Kastelic (45), Claude Giroud (59) scored for the hosts home.
Kaprizov also had two assists and was recognized as the first star of the match. The Russian broke the club record for fastest score by 200 points. At the moment, the forward has 201 points (93 goals + 108 assists) in 167 regular season games. He surpassed Brian Rolston’s milestone: in 2008 he scored 200 points in 239 games.
Only Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby (142 games), Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin (165), and Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin have scored 200 points faster than Kaprizov.
In another game, the Carolina Hurricanes defeated Pittsburgh 3-2 at home. Malkin scored the transfer. Carolina goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov saved 23 of 25 shots.
New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin scored a goal in a 7-1 away win against the Chicago Blackhawks. He also has two assists. Panarin consequently was recognized as the first star of the bout. Rangers striker Vitaly Kravtsov scored his second goal of the season. Club goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin saved 29 out of 30 shots.
Panarin was the third Russian to score 40 points this season. Previously, this milestone was achieved by Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay Lightning, 47) and Kaprizov (42).
