Kanye West has been banned from Instagram for 24 hours. He has been unable to post photos, send private messages and comment under photos since last night. Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, made that decision because the American rapper used a racist term, aimed at comedian and presenter Trevor Noah.
The black South African spoke The Daily Show about how Kanye West, who now calls himself Ye, harassed his ex-wife Kim Kardashian on social media. Noah called the behavior scary and said it shows what women can go through when they break up.
After the show, Ye commented under a photo of Noah, writing the lyrics to the song Kumbaya, originally sung by enslaved people. He replaced with part of the word Kumbaya with a term used for people who betray their own race. In doing so, he violated Meta’s guidelines on hate speech and bullying. If Ye continues with his behavior, further steps will be taken, a spokesperson for Meta tells entertainment website TMZ.

Trevor Noah has also experienced domestic violence herself. His mother was shot in the head by his stepfather. According to Noah, she was often told that she was exaggerating when she wanted to discuss her husband’s behavior. His mother survived the attack, but narrowly.
