Kanye West has now also officially filed a petition with the California Supreme Court to change his name. The 44-year-old rapper and producer wants to go through life as ‘Ye’ from now on, without a middle name or surname.

The application was already signed on August 11, but was not submitted to the judicial authorities until Tuesday. Kanye Omari West (as his official name is) states that the change request is due to “personal reasons”. A judge still has to approve this application before the name change is official.
In 2018, the rapper already changed his Twitter name to Ye, which followed the release of his album of the same name. He then tweeted: “The creature formally known as Kanye West. I’m YE.’ In addition to being an abbreviation of his name, it is also a word that appears frequently in the Bible, he said in interviews.
New album
West is expected to release his tenth studio album at the end of this month Donda releases. An official release date has not yet been announced, after he has already pushed it twice. He already introduced the music during his ‘Donda listen sessions’. Earlier this month, he also shared a list of artists who collaborated on the record. Jay-Z, The Weeknd and Jay Electronica will be featured on the record, among others.
