“Kanye West declares renewed love for the Jewish community”

Kanye West wants to leave behind him the controversies over his anti-Semitism. In an Instagram post on Saturday, he writes that watching actor Jonah Hill in the movie 21 Jump Street made him “love the Jews again”.

Officially known as Ye, the rapper has shocked the past few months with a series of anti-Semitic remarks, including repeatedly saying, “I love Hitler.” This caused sportswear giant Adidas and other fashion houses to stop working with him. He was also banned from most social networks.

A billion at stake for Adidas

“No one should turn their anger against one or two individuals into hatred towards millions of innocent people,” he wrote on his Instagram account, before concluding: “No Christian can be called an anti-Semite knowing that Jesus is a Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill, I love you”.

Adidas said earlier this month it was still considering what to do with its huge stockpile of Yeezy merchandise, after ending its partnership with Kanye West last October. Failure to sell clothes and shoes linked to the rapper would result in a loss of revenue of 1.2 billion euros, the group said when announcing its results for the year 2022.

Kanye West, who has been open about his mental health struggles, was briefly banned from Instagram last year for violating the social network’s harassment policy during his acrimonious divorce from reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
