The rapper announced this collaboration on Instagram. This is the first time that the artist has published on the platform since his 24-hour suspension last March for his comments deemed hateful.
Kanye West is back on Instagram. Almost two months after the suspension of his account for 24 hours on the application following messages deemed “hateful”, the American rapper has just revealed a photo of his collaboration with McDonald’s.
Accompanied by the designer of the Muji brand, Naoto Fukasawa, Kanye West had the mission to “reimagine” the packaging of the fast food chain, as he specifies in the caption of the photo.
From its design to its shape, this packaging is like Yeezy, the rapper’s clothing line, and artistic creations: minimal and sober. It is also a far cry from the traditional fast-food chain design, which is often associated with bright colors.
“Next week it will be fries”
If for the moment Mc Donald has not reacted to this announcement, it would seem that the collaboration between the artist and the restaurant will continue on other packaging as Kanye West suggests in his story Instagram.
“Next week it’s fries,” he wrote in a story, referring to his track. Gold Digger, released in 2005, in which he rapped: “This week he moppin’ floors, next week it’s the fries.” (“This week he’s mopping the floor, next week it’s fries.”)
Racist slurs and hate speech
Last March, Ye was banned from Instagram for 24 hours. The platform’s move came in the wake of a controversial post by the rapper, violating the app’s hate speech, bullying and harassment policies.
In his post, Kanye West had addressed a racist insult to the South African host Trevor Noah, star of the American talk show The Daily Showwho accused him in a monologue of harassing his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
The interpreter of Life Of The Party had used the expression “koon”, an insult to designate people of black color. This publication has now disappeared.
