Iconic Montreal coat maker Kanuk will soon be opening its first boutique in New York.
Located in the SoHo district, the new address will become, on November 23, the first independent Kanuk boutique to have a storefront outside of Quebec.
In fact, the manufacturer does business above all with resellers, such as Sports Experts, Simons or Atmosphere, to distribute its coats, mainly in Quebec, but also at a few locations elsewhere in Canada, in Europe and in the United States.
The opening of a store in New York is part of the brand’s desire to internationalize.
“Our new SoHo store is an exciting new chapter in our evolution from a small manufacturer of outerwear to a world-renowned Canadian brand. SoHo being a reinvented neighborhood, centered on arts, fashion and architecture, it perfectly reflects Kanuk’s trendy outerwear, ”Kanuk President Richard Laniel said in a statement.
In order to get closer to the needs of New Yorkers, Kanuk will offer its new range of fall clothing in its store, alongside its traditional winter coats.
“Buyers will also be able to discover exclusive styles on site,” suggested the manufacturer.
The company recalled that it had only recently sought to enter the international market, nevertheless quickly attracting the attention of large retailers such as SSENSE, United Arrows and Holt Renfrew.
