The toll of the attack that took place in Kansas City, Missouri when unknown people opened fire on the sidelines of the celebratory parade for the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl is heavy.
So far authorities have announced the death of one mother and 22 injuries, according to information from Reuters. Among the injured are 11 children, aged 6 to 15. All the injured are expected to recover, according to medical personnel.
At the same time, the police have made three arrests for the unspeakable tragedy that occurred in Kansas.
The shooting happened west of Union Station, near the parking garage, as Chiefs fans were leaving the event, police said.
“Shots were fired around the perimeter of (railway station) Union Station. Please move away from the area,” Kansas City police said on social media X (formerly Twitter), adding that they were “still trying to determine the number of victims,” one of the police’s first announcements said.

What do the witnesses say?
Attendee Arnold Sauther said that when the rally ended, the Chiefs went to Union Station and fans followed the players to get autographs. “Then all of a sudden they all started running, and with all those police officers running in there you knew something happened at the station,” he told ABC.
The shooting victims were transported to various hospitals in the area, of which eight were rushed with life-threatening injuries.
A woman, also speaking to the ABC, said she hid in an elevator near the scene of the attack and prayed.
Who is the victim of the attack?
On Wednesday night, radio station KKFI 90.1 FM confirmed that Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a DJ there, was killed in the incident.
“We are saddened to inform our community that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, Taste of Tejano radio producer passed away today in a shooting at the KC Chiefs rally. Our prayers are with her family. We encourage anyone who thinks they saw something to contact the authorities,” says the station’s announcement.
“This senseless act took a beloved person from her family and the KK station community,” the station’s statement concluded.
Lisa Lopez-Galvan was a mother of two, as reported by People. While, reports explain, that she died during surgery after being shot in the abdomen.
