A police officer in Kansas is in critical condition and the person who shot the officers died after a shooting in Wichita, authorities said.
The event occurred in south Wichita at around 10:15 pm when two police officers went to a home to find out the status of two women.
The officers were shot by a person inside the home, one of whom was shot multiple times and taken to the hospital in critical condition, said Wendell Nicholson, a Wichita police captain.
When reinforcements arrived, the individual fired again. The uniformed officers returned fire and the attacker was killed, Nicholson said.
Police questioned several witnesses to the event on Saturday night.
