Defending champions Kansas City Chiefs secured home rights for the play-off in the National Football League (NFL) on Sunday (local time) with a difficult 17:14 win over the Atlanta Falcons. As the top seeded team in the American Football Conference (AFC), the team around quarterback superstar Patrick Mahomes, which has 14 wins and only one loss, joins as one of two of the 14 play-off teams only one round later.
Against the Falcons, Mahomes made the decisive touchdown pass to victory with 1:55 minutes before the end, the pass for 25 yards was caught by receiver Demarcus Robinson. Atlanta kicker Younghoe Koo forgave the equalizer from 39 yards seconds before the end.
The Pittsburgh Steelers returned to winning ways after three defeats in a row and secured the division title in the AFC North with a 28:24 win after 7:24 behind the Indianapolis Colts. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw three touchdown passes for the hosts in the second half.
Jacksonville receives first draft pick
The Jacksonville Jaguars are after a 17:41 defeat against the Chicago Bears prematurely at the bottom after the end of the regular season and thus have the first pick in the NFL draft 2021. College quarterback Trevor Lawrence (Clemson Tigers) is considered a top candidate for the first election next April.
