– North Korea has requested a vaccine for the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) through international cooperation, and it is predicted that vaccination will begin as early as this spring.
Free Asia Broadcasting (RFA) announced on the 4th (local time) on a report that North Korea has submitted an application to receive the Corona 19 vaccine to the World Vaccine Immunity Association (GAVI, Gaby), a non-governmental organization.
Gaby is an international organization that supports vaccine vaccination in low-income countries.
Last month, Gabi announced that 86 out of 92 low-income countries, which are eligible for the COVAX AMC, which supplies vaccines to developing countries with funds donated by developed countries, have applied for vaccines. It also includes North Korea.
For these countries, COVAX has secured at least 1.3 billion doses of vaccine.
The goal is to supply supplies that can inoculate up to 20% of the population of these countries by the end of this year.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that North Korea submitted an application to the World Vaccine Immunization Association requesting a vaccine. In addition, citing multiple officials, North Korea reported that in recent weeks, North Korea has inquired about ways to secure the Corona 19 vaccine to European embassies. Since the beginning of last year, North Korea has been implementing strong quarantine measures, such as virtually closing the border to prevent the influx of Corona 19.
In addition, North Korea has revealed that there have been no confirmed cases of Corona 19 so far.
However, if this vaccine request is true, the claim that North Korea’s “corona 19 confirmed” is 0 will be less reliable.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha said in an interview with CNN on the 16th of last month (local time), “the North Korean authorities claim that there are no corona19 confirmed, but it is hard to believe.” “The virus enters even in countries that quickly block the borders. It used to spread.” At the same time, he once again raised doubts about the official position of the North Korean authorities, saying, “No corona 19 confirmed cases.”
Minister Kang said in the International Security Forum’Manama Dialogue’ held in Bahrain on the 5th that “North Korea still has no confirmed cases of Corona 19, but it is difficult to believe.”
Regarding this, the first vice-president Kim Yeo-jeong criticized in a dialogue on the 8th, three days later, saying, “If you see that you are pouring outcasts without any calculations, it seems that you are suffering from body aches because you want to blow even more cold air into the frozen North-South relations.”
Kim Yeo-jung warned, “I heard it correctly, so we will remember it for a long time, and Amada will have to be calculated correctly.”
