Harry Kane has backed Thomas Tuchel as England’s new head coach.
Tuchel was named the new England manager on Wednesday, the last time he was seen in the dugout since leaving Bayern Munich, where he brought Kane, in the summer.
The 51-year-old has been unemployed since leaving Bayern at the end of last season and knows both Kane and a number of the Three Lions’ other senior stars.
England’s record goalscorer left Tottenham for Bayern when Tuchel was coach of the Bavarian top club. Under the 44-year-old, he scored 51 times and provided 12 assists in just 45 games.
Speaking to Sky Deutschland a few moments before Tuchel’s announcement, Kane said: “I know Thomas well from last year and [er ist] a fantastic coach and a fantastic person. So I’m sure the guys at the FA will contact me when they know more about it.”
Tuchel is the third foreigner to be appointed England head coach, following in the footsteps of the late Sven Göran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
