Kane spearheads Tottenham’s comeback in a thrilling draw with Brentford

LONDON – Harry Kane shrugged off the effects of England’s World Cup quarter-final elimination to spearhead Tottenham’s resurgence in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Brentford as the English Premier League resumed on Monday.

An early goal from Vitaly Llanelt and another from Ivan Toni from close range early in the second half put Brentford up 2-0 as Tottenham struggled to deal with the home side.

However, coach Antonio Conte’s team continued to give their best when the result dropped and they proved it again today.

Kane, who missed a penalty two weeks ago as England lost to France in the quarter-final at the World Cup, scored a 65th-minute header to breathe life into Spurs.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, one of five Tottenham Hotspur players who took part in the World Cup, equalized and Kane nearly sealed victory with a header that hit the crossbar.

Tottenham are fourth on 30 points, while Brentford are ninth.
