Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane received the Golden Boot on Tuesday in recognition of becoming Europe’s top scorer in the 2023/2024 season, with a figure of 44 goals in 45 games played in all competitions.
“It’s a fantastic feeling. I can only thank my club and my team-mates. The award is for everyone, without you I wouldn’t be here today,” said Kane at the tribute ceremony, which took place at the Bayern Museum (Germany).
The 31-year-old player said he feels “very good” and that he has his mind set “on the new season”, about which he stressed that “I want to continue as I started last season. But the important thing is that we win the titles”.
“You should always try to work harder than others. Even if you feel like you are not being rewarded, you have to keep going. Self-confidence is also important, you have to believe in yourself,” he added.
During the event, the German team’s managing director, Jan-Christian Dreesen, said they are “very proud and happy that Harry is with” them.
“Before you (Kane), only two Bundesliga players and two FC Bayern players won the Golden Boot: Gerd Müller and Robert Lewandowski,” Dreesen recalled.
“He is a 360-degree striker. Harry Kane is more than just a goalscorer, he is a leader, a role model and he sacrifices himself for the team. He has captured the hearts of our fans,” he said.
“Harry is a great asset, also for the Bundesliga. He makes the league more attractive,” he concluded.
