ARSENAL 3-1 WEST HAM
Arsenal’s run at the top of the Premier League table continues, Gunners +7 on Newcastle thanks to the comeback success in the London derby with West Ham. Manchester City, eight points away, take the field on Wednesday at Leeds. It was the Hammers who took the lead in the 27th minute through Bowen, after Saka’s goal disallowed at the start. BRENTFORD 2-2 TOTTENHAM
After the long break for Qatar 2022, the Premier League is back, and it does so immediately with a spectacular match: the 2-2 draw between Brentford and Tottenham. The hosts took the lead in the 15th minute: Janelt was in the right place at the right time, kneeling after Jensen’s shot deflected first by Lenglet, then by Forster. In the 43rd minute, the 2-0 seems to arrive: Toney flies towards the goal and doubles his lead, but starting from an offside position. In the 84th minute, Kane also headed the crossbar, coming close to scoring the goal that would have completed the comeback, while in added time Raya saved from Son’s left foot. Thus it ends 2-2: yet another comeback, albeit partial this time, for Tottenham, who rise to 30, +10 on Brentofrd who stops another big player after the success before the World Cup against Guardiola’s Manchester City.
CRYSTAL PALACE 0-3 FULHAM
Precious victory after two defeats by Fulham who are approaching the European zone and just detaching Crystal Palace in the standings. The guests make the most of the double numerical superiority: after Reid’s advantage in the 31st minute, in fact, Mitchell’s direct red light arrives in the 34th minute. At the start of the second half, it rained in the wet for the home team, nine for Tomkins’ double yellow card. Then coup de grace with goals from Ream and Mitrovic between the 71st and 82nd minutes.
EVERTON 1-2 WOLVERHAMPTON
Clamorous success in the final seconds for Wolverhampton who leave the last place in the standings, Everton remains in crisis with their third consecutive defeat which could cost Lampard the bench. Newcastle’s golden moment continues with their seventh straight win and momentary second place in the standings. Leicester fall after two victories and must continue to watch their backs. Match ended after just 32 minutes: in the 3rd minute Wood took the lead from a penalty, four minutes went by and Almiron doubled the lead, Joeliton’s definitive trio shortly after the half hour mark.
SOUTHAMPTON 1-3 BRIGHTON
Brighton redeems itself after the elimination from the EFL Cup and approaches the European zone thanks to the dry victory over a Southampton in crisis, last and the fourth consecutive defeat. Roberto De Zerbi’s team opened the ball in the 14th minute with ex Lallana, then doubled their lead in the 34th minute thanks to Perraud’s own goal. At the start of the second half, in the best moment for the hosts, March’s super goal at the crossroads broke Southampton’s legs. Ward-Prowse tries in the 71st minute to play the charge, but the goal that shortens the gap is too late.
ASTON VILLA 1-3 LIVERPOOL
Liverpool gets up after the elimination from the EFL Cup at the hands of Manchester City and conquers the stadium of Aston Villa, taking the third victory in a row in the league and the sixth place. Emery’s team crashes after two victories. Reds-style first half with Salah’s lead after just five minutes, in the 20th minute the Var canceled Matip’s double for offside, not bad because Van Dijk took care of it in the 37th minute to sign the 2-0 which seems to end the game.
