The head of the committee, Representative Ibrahim Kanaan, pointed out that “objections to the draft budget included for the first time workers and employers, as the increases in taxes and fees did not exclude anyone, including the deceased, salaries, and the consumer at various levels.”
He explained, “We have amended the proposed increases on consumption fees, so that they come in accordance with the cost of living index and not randomly, as was contained in the government’s project,” pointing out, “We affirmed our refusal to introduce new taxes and fees that were not previously observed, and we asked the government to prepare a table of the amended items and their impact on the rate of consumption.” The estimated deficit contained in the budget is according to a scientific study and not a notebook.”
