Kamp van Koningsbrugge pays tribute to deceased soldier | Stars

entertainment">During the final of Koningsbrugge camp the participants had to take a doll with them during a heavy and long march. It stood for a deceased soldier who had to be brought home at all costs. The march then ended in Arnhem at a military cemetery. Several commandos were waiting there, including a sergeant major who fought in Uruzgan together with Kevin van de Rijdt from Venray.

entertainment">Van de Rijdt died in 2009 during a reconnaissance mission. In doing so, the commandos got into a firefight with enemy fighters. Van de Rijdt was fatally injured. At the risk of their own life, his mates then brought Van de Rijdt back with them. The sergeant major who was there at the time told that story on the spot to portray the harsh reality for the participants of the program.
