Kalvin Phillips no longer waits for Barça or Atleti and is loaned to West Ham
Kalvin Phillips, the object of desire of Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, will be loaned to West Ham United, who have reached an agreement with Manchester City for the midfielder to leave for London until the end of the season.
As initially reported by David Ornstein of The Atheltic, the Hammers will bring in Phillips on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
He is scheduled to pass medical tests this Wednesday, January 24.
Phillips joined Manchester City from Leeds in 2022, but has failed to find a place in the first team, which has put his future in doubt.
The England international hopes to revitalize his career with his move to the London team.
Differences with Guardiola
He made 234 appearances for Leeds before moving to Manchester, where he became uncomfortable under the demands of Pep Guardiola and was limited to just 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
The midfielder will look for a new start at West Ham, which is fighting for a place in Europe and is in the round of 16 of the Europa League.
The Hammers will hope Phillips follows in the footsteps of successful signings James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus, who contributed to their promotion.
