The work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius is the basis for the spiritual unity of the Slavs in Europe. This was said by the leader of the BSP – Sofia and member of the Commission for Culture, Education, Science and Cultural Diversity in SOS Kaloyan Pargov in his festive address on the occasion of May 24 – Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature. He, together with the deputy chairman of the capital organization of the BSP Ivan Takov, members of the Executive Bureau, of the City Council, the chairman of the Youth Union Gabriel Valkov and MEPs, laid wreaths and flowers at the monument of the holy brothers in front of the National Library in the capital.
“Pride is the feeling that fills our souls on this special day of the year, because “…we have also given something to the world and to all Slovenians, a book to read,” said Pargov.
“The sacred work of the equal apostles and great Christian teachers brothers Cyril and Methodius, patrons of Europe, carried the Bulgarian language through the centuries. On May 24, we worship Bulgarian teachers and university professors, scientists and researchers, creators – writers, poets, screenwriters and journalists, people of art, culture and spirituality. We express our deep gratitude to the custodians of the Bulgarian spirit!” said the chairman of the BSP – Sofia.
Kaloyan Pargov noted that today we continue to witness the gross distortion of Bulgarian history, which is part of the neoliberal policy persistently and systematically imposed over the past 30 years by the Bulgarian right and GERB. According to him, these attempts to neglect our national identity irrevocably destroy the foundations of Bulgaria, built with the blood of our ancestors.
“The effort to completely consciously erase entire periods related to Bulgarian spirituality, our Orthodox and Slavic essence, will not succeed. Nor will another push to dismantle the Monument to the Soviet Army. Nor will we allow fascist ideologies to be promoted. All these attempts will meet our categorical resistance,” he declared.
He recalled that the foundation of the construction and development of the European Union is the concept of cultural diversity. “It is the right of every nation to preserve and develop its language, traditions and culture. And in this way to enrich Europe, realizing its spiritual unity. Even Constantine Cyril the Philosopher said it: Every nation has the right to glorify God in its own language Kaloyan Pargov commented.
