Kaloyan Pargov thanked Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov for the support of the taxi drivers – 2024-05-08 09:11:13

/ world today news/ The leader of the socialists in Sofia, Kaloyan Pargov, expressed his satisfaction that the Minister of Transport, Rosen Zhelyazkov, supports the taxi drivers, committing the state to cover a larger part of their alternative tax in the conditions of the corona crisis.

Here is what Kaloyan Pargov wrote on his Facebook page on this occasion:

“I am glad that the Minister of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov has accepted the proposal to support taxi drivers, who are among the most affected by the crisis caused by the coronavirus.

Just a week ago, I stated that the alternative tax on taxis for 2021 should be BGN 300, with the state compensating the Metropolitan Municipality with the difference up to BGN 850. Then I pointed out that in the period March-May 2020, the revenues of companies and drivers fell with 70%, and currently they are stabilized on average at the levels of 50% compared to last year. Over 20% are the taxi drivers who have ceased their activity.

That is why I said that we from the BSP are inclined to support their demands.

And today I understand that at a meeting held by representatives of the taxi industry with the Minister of Transport – Rosen Zhelyazkov, the state promised to support them by taking part of the tax they pay to the municipalities. For Sofia, this amount is BGN 550.
A reasonable decision by Minister Zhelyazkov, which benefits both taxi drivers and citizens.”
