Russia’s place is key to the peace of the planet. That is why it is important that modern state leaders do not forget and do not underestimate its importance and role on the European and world political scene. This was said by the chairman of the BSP – Sofia Kaloyan Pargov on the occasion of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, which took place at the Russian Cultural and Information Center.

“I would not undertake to make a historical retrospective, nor will I make an analysis of the events of 1941 and everything that happened after that until the victory in 1945. But here is the place to note an indisputable historical fact, namely that with the Great The Patriotic War marked a turning point in the advance of Hitler-fascism in Europe and the world,” said the leader of the BSP – Sofia.

According to him, none other than Soviet Russia has given its will, spirit and millions of devoted warriors to oppose the advance of fascism in Europe and the world. “And not only did they dispute the offensive, but they also broke it,” he was emphatic.

“Every year on May 9 we celebrate a double holiday – Victory Day and Europe Day. It is clear to every person and European that if it were not Victory Day, there would be no way to start celebrating Europe Day years later,” Pargov recalled.

He pointed out that the anti-fascist coalition led by the Soviet Union, the United States and Great Britain had won because its participants, however different in their geopolitical and ideological interests, had shown the wisdom to join forces in time of war, dealing a fatal blow to Nazi Germany.

“This is a conclusion that must be remembered. Especially in today’s stormy geopolitical times of confrontation between the different centers of power in the world,” said the chairman of the Sofia organization of the BSP.

He believes that the lessons of history must be remembered and the lessons from them repeated so that the horrors of war do not happen again. “They must be told to future generations, so that we can not only not lose the historical truth, but also that the horrors of such a war can never be allowed again,” added the leader of the capital’s socialists.

“80 years ago, the Soviet Union resisted the onslaught of Hitler-fascism with all its power and strength. And won. Even today, the majority of the Bulgarian people believe in the strength and power of modern Russia as a partner of the Slavic countries,” says Kaloyan Pargov.
