This was said by the leader of the BSP – Sofia Kaloyan Pargov in front of dozens of figures of culture, science, education, the media and community affairs at the traditional meeting on the occasion of May 24, which was held in the “Dimitar Blagoev” hall of the City Council of the Sofia organization of the party.
“I am happy to see in this hall so many guardians of the Bulgarian spirit in this, unfortunately, increasingly spiritless time in which we live,” the leader of the capital’s socialists addressed the guests. “On May 24, an entire nation kneels and bows before the holy work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius. On this day, with pride and gratitude, we say words of thanks to those who light the fire of knowledge in our children, who give us the happiness of touching new and new cultural horizons and spiritual universes. To those who protect Bulgaria”, Pargov was categorical.
According to him, education and culture are not commodities that we can trade. “Education and culture are a major part of our national security and we must uncompromisingly protect them” – said the chairman of the BSP – Sofia and added that today our country is in a huge debt to its leaders. “The festive observance of May 24 and the words of the rulers in front of the monument of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius are not enough to pay this debt when there is a lack of adequate actions in favor of education and culture. What is the future of Bulgaria, when the man of knowledge is devalued, and his authority is crushed by the aggression of the students and rolls on the floor of the classrooms”, stated Kaloyan Pargov.
“May 24 is perhaps the most important date of the year for Bulgarian society,” Pargov said and added that it is a day for motivation and spiritual elevation. “The sacred work of the brothers Cyril and Methodius carried the Bulgarian language through the centuries. The magical power of writing elevates the human spirit. Literacy shows the drive to improve. Therefore, every May 24th, “Go, people revived…” will be heard from all directions and will fill us with pride that “we also gave something to the world and to all Slavs to read…”, he finished his speech Kaloyan Pargov.
The chairman of the Union of Writers Boyan Angelov and the chairman of the Union of Journalists Snezhana Todorova addressed the participants of the meeting on the occasion of the Holiday of Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture and Slavic Writing.
