Kaloyan Pargov: Corruption and poverty – this is the motto of this year’s May Day protest – 2024-07-30 23:18:32

/ world today news/ Kaloyan Pargov, Chairman of the General Committee of the BSP-Sofia and of the “BSP-Left Bulgaria” group in the SOS, in a conversation with Denitsa Gatsinska in the program “What do the Sofia elected officials do for Sofia?” on Radio K2, stated positions on the following topics:

The protest rally organized by BSP on May 1st.

“On May 1, the BSP is holding a protest rally against corruption and poverty, what should we expect from this event?” asked the host Denitsa Gacinska. Kaloyan Pargov replied that this is a traditional left-wing event that has been held for more than 100 years. He continued that unfortunately this year it will not be the traditional Labor Day, but it will be in tune with the environment in which the government has been running for the past one year – daily protests by various sections of society. “Corruption and poverty – this is the motto of this year’s May Day protest, which will be held under the windows of the government, after which it will grow, as we usually do, into celebrating the day of the left press, of the Duma newspaper, but also of the free word, as it is evident from many world rankings that we are not doing well in this indicator!”, said the leader of the capital’s socialists.

What alternative will BSP offer?

“Will the BSP present its alternative to this rally-protest, today the deputy chairman of the PG of the BSP turned to Prime Minister Borisov that he no longer wants his resignation, but simply turns to him if he cannot deal with corruption and poverty, to step down from office and leave the state to those who can – do we understand the BSP?” asked the host Denitsa Gacinska. Kaloyan Pargov answered that this is traditional for the representatives of the Sofia organization of the BSP. He recalled how some time ago in the program “Benovska pita” he also called on Borissov to step down from power. As for what alternative the BSP is, the leader of the capital’s socialists stated that they are working seriously, stepping on both previous programs and the legislative initiatives of the last one year, which are 27. Some of these initiatives were implemented by the rulers themselves , which he says is a silent admission for the BSP, although the GERB would not admit it out loud. “But there is nothing to be angry with them, they think that history starts with GERD, but we have to remind them that before that there were other governments in different periods, especially in the last 50 years, during which a lot of things were done, built and built, unfortunately in the last 28 we only tear down and sell! We will bet on the alternative of building and strengthening the foundations of the state, because every ordinary citizen of the state can tell you that he does not feel that there is a state and institutions!”, said Kaloyan Pargov. He added that this, along with corruption, are the main problems and the BSP constantly receives various signals that the administration is not doing its job and is blackmailing people. That is why last year had the least amount of foreign investment, which is a red light that we are not doing well.

The fight against corruption at the local level.

“What are the conclusions of the fight against corruption at the local level, how to eradicate it after the Mladost case?” asked the host Denitsa Gacinska. Kaloyan Pargov categorically stated that there must be rules, control and compliance with deadlines in the work of the administration. He continued that we have quite a few good laws and regulations, but someone has to control them and have the political will. “The administration cannot be guided solely by whether it will stay in these places, about who will be elected as the head of the state and who will guarantee their stay, regardless of whether they do their job or not. This is what business complains about. Bulgaria is behind in two indicators – corruption and administrative burden. But administrative burden does not mean to reduce the number of the administration, but to optimize the processes and the time for which it delivers these services to the population. And regarding corruption, I have repeatedly said that corruption in the West means paying yourself to break the rules and get more than you deserve, and corruption in Bulgaria is when you pay yourself for something that is rightfully yours, but to get it you have to pay. This is unacceptable because all of us as citizens have not only duties but also rights. We have the right to good service and quality service, to a well-educated and highly qualified administration. Something that we are currently not observing and the education model that we have ruined is to blame for this, because the incompetence and gaps in the expertise of the administration lead to fatal mistakes and hinder everyone!”, concluded Kaloyan Pargov your conversation with Denitsa Gatsinska in the program “What do the Sofia elected officials do for Sofia?” on Radio K2 on 24 April 2018
