Kalmar FF Takes Strong Victories Against IFK Göteborg and BK Häcken.

Despite a strong effort in the opener against Malmö FF, it was an odd-goal loss, but since then Kalmar FF have taken stable victories against both IFK Göteborg and BK Häcken.

Carl Gustafsson on the 3-1 scalp against Häcken:

– It is clear that Häcken is missing some important players today, but today we are great. Against Malmö we were good defensively, but today we have possession that allows us to put pressure on them. That we can go and meet the most capable team and still keep the ball.

What is reasonable to hope for you this year?
– It’s hard to say this early, but we feel we can beat everyone. We’ll take it match by match. Next weekend, against Halmstad, it’s another match where we need to prove other parts of our game.

After the top positions of the last two years, many have downplayed the expectations for KFF ahead of this year. But despite the loss of Oliver Berg, Sebastian Nanasi and Henrik Rydström, Simon Skrabb believes that the team has taken another step forward this year.

– When did Häcken lose last? Skrabb wonders.

23 competitive matches since. July 24.
– It is clear that it is an achievement. It is the most difficult match in Sweden right now and I think we are playing it in a fantastic way. We score three game goals and… There is not much to complain about today.

How good is Kalmar FF this year?
– I think we feel a step sharper than last year. Then we’ll see how sharp the other teams are, says the 28-year-old.

Although there is a lot of confidence and a lot of harmony in the playing squad, new head coach Henrik Jensen wants to play down the expectations.

– When I was hired, I saw somewhere that it was mission impossible for me to succeed with this project. I think we should be careful that it becomes too much. We are aware that we have to work extremely hard to have a chance in the games, but we are also aware that we are good, says Jensen.
