With a goal by Velde and two braces by Tsikinio, Olympiacos defeated Kallithea 1-0 at Leoforo in the round of 16 of the Greek Cup (the second leg on 3/12 at “G. Karaiskakis”).
As expected, Mediliber made changes to give its players a breather. Despite the changes, however, Olympiacos once again had a problem creating, since their extreme attackers did not help either. The “red and white” all had two good moments in the first 45 minutes. In the 17th minute, Kostoula’s header narrowly went wide, and in the 36th minute, Tsikinho’s shot was blocked by Gelio’s crossbar. For its part, Kallithea was very well organized defensively but did not threaten Paschalakis.
In the second half Oliveira’s foul was saved by Gelios (50′) and in 56′ Velde’s header went just wide and in 69′ Ciquinho’s volley from outside the area hit the crossbar for the second time. Finally, in the 71′, the pressure of Olympiakos bore fruit when El Kaabi pressed for Velde and he opened the score with a strong shot (0-1).
Kallithea tried to go on the attack in the last 5 minutes but could not threaten…
