It was at the end of the fifth quarter-final between Frölunda and Leksand that the incident occurred.
With just over five minutes left in the game, Kalle Östman went towards the substitution booth and ended up in the back of one of the linesmen – who fell to the ice.
The situation room has reviewed the incident and chosen to report Leksandsstjärnan to the disciplinary board. They believe that the situation “could be avoided”.
This is what it says in the report:
“When there are 5.30 left in the third period, the game leaves Frölunda’s defense zone and Leksands player No. 12 Kalle Östman goes up to his box. As he approaches the blue line, he holds up his stick with one hand and drives into the line judge from behind and puts both hands on the back of the line judge who is on the ice. This contact with the linesman could be avoided.”
Frölunda won the match 5-2 and leads the quarter-final series, which is played in the best of seven, with 3-2 in matches. During Sunday, a decision is expected whether Kalle Östman will be suspended or not.
