Residents of the region born in 1971-1990 can take the study for free. This is the first time such a project is being implemented in the Kaliningrad Region. Among its advantages is that the research can be done completely free of charge in government clinics. The physician emphasized that cervical cancer is the second most common among women and develops as a result of a sexually transmitted HPV infection. Screening and treatment of lesions are one of the most effective ways to prevent cancer in women over 30. If detected early, there is a chance of being completely cured.
In 2020, about six thousand women were surveyed in the region, ten percent of them were diagnosed with oncogenic types of the virus. Cancer was diagnosed in several patients.
