The leader of the Burgas MIR is Ismail Osman, who defined Kalin Stoyanov as “a person who in such a short time did more things for the employees of the Ministry of the Interior than other long-term ministers and directors”. He also presented other names in the list of the coalition, among which are Husein Hafazov, Mirem Dervish, Tatiana Arnaudova and Mikhail Mihov. The list also includes the names of three mayors from the municipality of Rouen.
In the Sofia region, Stoyanov is facing another former Minister of the Interior – Mladen Marinov.
Kalin Stoyanov was born on April 28, 1981. In 2008, he obtained a master’s degree in “Law” at the Burgas Free University. Work at the Ministry of Internal Affairs began in 2003 after obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He has gone through specialized training on counter-terrorism, combating illegal migration, human trafficking, illegal arms trade, counterfeiting and others. He graduated from courses for managers, including at the International Law Enforcement Academy – ILEA, Budapest, Hungary, the Ministry of the Interior states.
On June 6, 2023, he was appointed Minister of the Interior. From May 31, 2021 to June 5, 2023, he was the director of the Main Directorate “Fighting Organized Crime” (GDBOP) – Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the period 2018 – May 31, 2021 – head of the “Special Operations” department – GDBOP. From 2016 to 2018 – head of the RUP – Primorsko at ODMVR – Burgas, from 2011 to 2016 – employee in the “Special Operations” department – GDBOP – Ministry of the Interior, and in the period 2013 – 2015, the department was in DANS. From 2009 to 2011 – an employee at the TZBOP – Burgas, during this period he was also a member of the Regional Commission for Combating Human Trafficking. In the period 2003 – 2009 – employee in the “Economic Police” sector at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications – Burgas.
In his professional career, he was repeatedly awarded by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the chairman of the National Academy of Sciences. He is the winner of an international award “40 under 40”, as well as two collective awards – from the “Secret Service” of the USA and from Europol, according to the Ministry of the Interior. From June 6, 2023, he is the Minister of Internal Affairs in the “Denkov” Cabinet.
