Kalbe Farma Reduces the Price of Covid-19 Drugs to Rp. 1.5 Million

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Kalbe Farma Tbk together with PT Amarox Global Pharma (Amarox) made a price adjustment for COVIFOR (Remdesivir) in Indonesia.

This type of drug is usually given to para Covid-19 patients.

The prices for COVIFOR products, which are manufactured by Hetero India, imported by Amarox and marketed and distributed by Kalbe, were previously announced at IDR 3 million per vial, adjusted to IDR 1.5 million per vial.

“Hetero is aware of the widespread impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially related to the cost burden for the government and patients, so Hetero is providing more support and providing special COVIFOR prices for Indonesia,” said Sandeep Sur, Country Manager of PT Amarox Global Pharma in a written statement on Saturday. This price adjustment is in line with Kalbe’s commitment with Amarox to support the government in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, this is done by considering the increasing number of patients who are getting the benefits of the COVIFOR drug for healing Covid-19 disease.

“The COVIFOR price adjustment is due to considering a number of current conditions such as the development of the Covid-19 case in Indonesia, the need for large Covid-19 treatment using the COVIFOR drug, input from the government, health workers and patients, and the increasing number of patients who benefit from the COVIFOR drug. for the cure of covid-19, “he said.

As is known, the COVIFOR (Remdesivir) Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) product is for the treatment of patients with Covid-19 disease who have been confirmed in the laboratory, especially for adults or adolescents (aged 12 years and over with a minimum body weight of 40 kg) who are treated at home sick.

So COVIFOR products are not sold freely, they are only used in hospitals with a doctor’s recommendation and supervision.
