Lotte Department Store is launching the official pop-up store for the animation ‘Dragon Ball’ for the first time in Korea at Lotte World Mall in Jamsil after receiving approval from the original author.
On the 10th, Lotte Department Store announced, “We will open the official ‘Dragon Ball’ pop-up store for 11 days from the 7th to the 17th of this month at the atrium square on the first floor of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil.”
According to Lotte Department Store, this event is Korea’s first official ‘Dragon Ball’ pop-up store approved by the original company. It is a storytelling pop-up that combines Dragon Ball stories and products, commemorating the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball and marking the end of the year.
‘Dragon Ball’ is an animation that created a worldwide fighting manga syndrome. It has a large fan base both domestically and overseas. In fact, the previous pop-ups in Japan and Taiwan were a huge success with large crowds.
This Jamsil Lotte World Mall pop-up was set up in a space of about 80 pyeong (265 m2) in the atrium square. It is decorated like a scene from the animation Dragon Ball, and the characters and backgrounds from the work are depicted here and there.

The huge photo zone that recreates the ‘World’s Best Martial Arts Tournament’ is considered the highlight of this pop-up. The World’s First Martial Arts Tournament is a stage where the main characters in the animation compete for strength by honing their skills. You can also take commemorative photos with human-sized models of characters that appeared in the competition, such as Son Goku, Turtle Master, Tenshinban, and Krillin.
About 300 types of Dragon Ball commemorative goods will also be sold through the pop-up. It includes a variety of lifestyle products such as cushions, keyrings, mouse pads, and blankets, as well as clothing products that are being released for the first time in Korea. Most of the products are priced under 100,000 won, making them perfect as inexpensive year-end season gifts.
To commemorate the pop-up, various promotions will be held. During the pop-up period, a special event will be held in which customers who purchase more than 100,000 won will receive one of 14 types of Dragon Ball posters. We also operate a commemorative photo booth where you can take a self-photo within the Dragon Ball frame and keep it.
The Dragon Ball pop-up continues at the Busan main branch. After the Jamsil Lotte World Mall event ends, we will move to a new location and operate a pop-up store on the first basement level of the Busan main branch from the 22nd of this month to December 1st.
An official from Lotte Department Store said, “This official Dragon Ball pop-up is a unique event that will provide a special experience not only to Dragon Ball enthusiasts but also to first-time customers,” and added, “We hope that the powerful energy of Dragon Ball will be conveyed to all students preparing for the CSAT.”
