Yle’s former channel manager and radio host And Färm has died at the age of 67. Färm’s daughter Laura confirms his father’s death to Iltalehti.

Laura says that her father died last night, March 15. The cause of death is not yet certain.

– He had been in the hospital and then he got pneumonia. I think that might be the reason, but we can’t say for sure. But then he died of an illness, says Laura.

Laura says that their entire family gathered in Tapiola under the same roof to deal with Färmi’s death.

– We are quite shocked when it is a recent matter. This came quite unexpectedly, as my father was only 67 years old, so I couldn’t imagine that he would leave yet. We still have to digest this, he states.

Laura remembers her father fondly.

– He loved his work and was really dedicated to it. He was proud and loved culture.

– It’s really nice if his work survived and shows what kind of person he was. I can also show my own child what kind of danger he was in, he says.

In addition to Laura, Färmi will be missed by loved ones, friends, his wife and other children, among others Elisa and Teo.

Färm had a long radio career at Yle Radio 1. Färm also held many other positions at Yle, such as 10 years as channel manager. He retired in 2021.

– Yes, I have to admit that I feel quite sad. One big part of life has been the workplace – a bit too big. Here you can see that all my other hobbies are more or less related to work. Of course, I still have a family, although the children have already moved out of the house, Färm stated.

– All in all, I’m really grateful for the decades I’ve been here. I’ve learned a lot about the world and radio, and I’m very grateful for that, he emphasized.
