The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York opened a special exhibition on Emperor Maximilian I on Wednesday. In addition to objects from the life of the Habsburg emperor, the 18 original sandstone reliefs of Innsbruck’s Golden Roof are shown.

The exhibition “The Last Knight: The Art, Armor, and Ambition of Maximilian I” under the direction of the Austrian Max Hollein shows a total of 180 objects from Europe, the Middle East and the USA on the life of the so-called last knight and on the military technology of the time .

The exhibition in New York opened on Wednesday in the presence of Federal Minister Alexander Schallenberg, Cultural Councilor Beate Palfrader (ÖVP) and Consul General Helmut Böck.
Sandstone reliefs from the Golden Roof are shown
The exhibits from Tyrol include 15 loans from the Tyrolean Provincial Museum Ferdinandeum, other objects from the possession of Archduke Ferdinand II from the Ambras collection and also the 18 original sandstone reliefs from the Golden Roof in Innsbruck – more on this in Golden Roof Reliefs in New York .
The special exhibition runs until January 5th. For the opening of the exhibition, in addition to the regional councilor for culture, Beate Palfrader, 50 representatives from tourism and business traveled to New York, where company visits and networking meetings are on the agenda.
