“We always have scenarios in Latvian society. We have always been in change, always ready. We have scenarios for everything, including this pandemic. For example, I could not go anywhere, although I had two trips to Vilnius and one to Tallinn. Right now in September , I had to drive for the first time on Saturday, but it ‘s not possible anymore, and it’ s wonderful, because I realized that maybe I had figured out too much, now in the days when I ‘m not going anywhere, I will have something to do. “When I don’t have a cinema, I do theater, when I don’t have a theater, I do cinema. When I don’t have a specific director, I develop projects. Latvia also has those scenarios all the time, including these pandemics,” said the director.
In the discussion, Kairišs explained his thoughts with an example: “We know that in Latvian society there is one pronounced xenophobic scenario of Latvia’s development, who are afraid of everything else, who have hope for the world and Europe like wheat or rye in the wind , all the spikes will be denied in one direction, but the Latvian spike will stand without bending its flag in its hands: “Nothing will affect us!” This is the end of this scenario, but this scenario is very clumsy. “We can realize it in some way. Well, let ‘s live it for six months now after this xenophobic scenario and then look at it,” said Kairišs.
According to him, the pandemic has also provided an opportunity to implement ideas that have previously remained on the shelves.
“I know that many will be traumatized almost or at the level of a stroke, that they will not be able to go to the Mediterranean, or some insane Turkish resorts to hang out with a million tourists on some crowded beach.
