KAI Plans to ‘Magic’ Fast Train Feeders into Commuters

PT KAI (Persero) plans to convert the feeder train connecting the Whoosh Fast Train Station in Padalarang with Bandung Station into a commuter train. This was conveyed by KAI Main Director Didiek Hartantyo in response to a question regarding the increasing number of feeder train passengers.

“The feeder will later become a commuter, it doesn’t have to be a person sitting or not, my friends are asking, do all the passengers want to sit? Because it turns out that sitting, oh no,” said Didiek at the Jakarta DPR Complex, Monday (4/12/ 2023).

He said that his party was trying to provide a schedule according to the Whoosh Fast Train schedule. This way, people can immediately get on the train as soon as they get off the high-speed train.

When asked when the feeder train would be changed, Didiek only said that electrification needed to be built first.

“That’s why electrification must be built first so that the headway can increase,” he said.

For your information, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is offering promotional fares for travel in December. Promo prices are set starting from IDR 200,000 for one trip. On Monday to Thursday, for Premium Economy class tickets will be sold for IDR 200,000. Meanwhile, for weekends from Friday to Sunday, premium economy tickets are sold for IDR 250,000.

All fares also include free Feeder Train travel from Padalarang Station to Bandung Station and vice versa.

KCIC Main Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said that the implementation of promotional fares and additional trips was carried out to provide more opportunities for people who want to use the Whoosh Fast Train. In December there will be 40 trips per day Monday to Thursday and 48 trips per day on weekends, namely Friday to Sunday.

“The Whoosh Fast Train is a commercial train service so the fare determination will use a dynamic pricing strategy and follow passenger demand, during high season or low season,” said Dwiyana in his statement, quoted Friday (24/11)
