Kai Koreniuk (25) is a player for third division team Blauw Geel ’38, but four years ago he was still on the field with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for LA Galaxy. In conversation with Voetbal International he talks about his special experiences with the Swede.

Koreniuk played five matches in the main squad of LA Galaxy and knows Ibrahimovic mainly from the training field. The attacker calls training with the former top striker ‘incredibly intense’. “Sometimes he focused his arrows on one player for an entire training session. I was once the loser during a five-on-five game and I did everything wrong, according to him. When I got into the ball, I had to get away. I went deep, I should have gotten into the ball.” tells Koreniuk.
“He kept following me during that training. He told the coach that they had better play with one man less. I had better take a shower.” A teammate of Koreniuk also had a hard time when he gave Ibrahimovic a rebuttal. Zlatan started shouting: Who the fack are you? You are facking nobody!“

Due to serious injuries and the death of his father, Koreniuk’s professional adventure in America came to an end. He currently plays for the third division team from Veghel. “If this is the end of my professional story, I can still be successful in life.”
