KAI Gives 50 Percent Discount on Train Ticket Prices This Weekend Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI provides a 50 percent discount on train ticket prices. This only applies to the four long-distance trains departing 22-23 August 2020.

It consists of Wijayakusuma Train (Cilacap – Ketapang), Mutiara Timur Train (Surabaya Gubeng – Ketapang), Singasari Train (Pasar Senen – Blitar), and KA Pasundan (Kiaracondong – Surabaya Gubeng). Promo is valid round-trip (PP) for the four routes.

“The 50 percent Steal Deal promo is a form of appreciation for KAI to loyal customers, as well as to further increase public interest in using rail transportation modes,” said VP of Public Relations KAI Joni Martinus in a written statement, Jakarta, Friday (21/8/2020).

In detail, with the tariff discount from the normal price, the Wijayakusuma train ticket price has now become IDR 165,000 for the executive class and IDR 130,000 for the economy class. For the economy-class Pasundan train, the fare is IDR 85,000

Then the Mutiara Timur train fare becomes Rp. 110,000 for executives and Rp. 85,000 for executives. The Singasari train fare for executives is IDR 155,000 and the economy IDR 110,000.

However, the number of tickets that get this promo is limited. Orders can also be made immediately via the KAI Access application, the official kai.id page, and all other official KAI ticket sales channels.

Joni said, during the Islamic New Year holiday period and joint leave this weekend, there was an increase in train customers by 44 percent. In line with that, KAI responded by increasing train travel until this weekend.

It was recorded that the volume of subscribers on August 19-20 departures was 131,146 customers. An increase compared to the same period in the previous week, which was 91,074 subscribers.

As for the period 19-23 August 2020, KAI operated on average 260 trains per day, or an increase of 21 percent from the same period in the previous week, which was an average of 215 trains per day.

“It is hoped that with this promo, public interest in choosing the train mode when traveling will continue to increase,” he said.

Joni stressed that he should still enforce strict health protocols on the way. Such as requiring a Covid-19 free certificate, wearing a mask, the temperature does not exceed 37.3 degrees.

In addition, it must be in a healthy condition, namely no fever, cough, flu, and shortness of breath. As well as KAI encourages customers to wear long-sleeved clothing.

On the other hand, long-distance train customers are also required to wear a face shield during the trip until they leave the destination station area.

For adult customers, KAI will provide a face shield. Meanwhile, customers under 3 years of age (infant) should bring a personal face shield.

Officers will go around to ensure the use of face shields and masks by customers during the trip. Every 3 hours, the officer will check the customer’s body temperature.

If there are customers whose body temperature is above 37.3 and have symptoms of cough, flu, or shortness of breath, the customers will be evacuated to the isolation room that we have provided on the train for follow-up at the next station.

KAI also routinely performs cleaning with disinfectant-containing liquid at stations and trains.

“Areas that are frequently touched by customers are also cleaned every 30 minutes by officers to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” Joni concluded.
