As the current league scoring leader this season, facing the Wizards’ record of 3 wins and 11 losses, Bradley Beal has another new title called “King of the Sky”.
In today’s 106-124 defeat by the Wizards to the Pelicans, Beal made 17 of 37 shots, 6 of 14 three-pointers, 47 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The team still lost so many.
This is the 10th consecutive game that Beal has scored 40+ and lost. This season, he has lost all 40+ three times, including 60 points against the 76ers. This is already the longest losing record in the league, surpassing Walt Bellamy’s 9 consecutive games.
Beal shot intensively at the start, and took 5 shots in 4 minutes without scoring a goal. He was inefficient in the first quarter, the Wizards fell into a double-digit disadvantage early, and the defense was in a mess. In the second quarter, he started to score, and he felt warmer with the ball into the penalty area, but the Wizards had fallen behind by more than 20 points before halftime.
In the third quarter, he continued to take the offensive corner, scoring three points and then scoring at the basket as a penalty, but scoring on his own was completely ineffective.
In the fourth quarter, he didn’t give up chasing points, scored another three-pointer at 9 minutes 58 seconds, and consecutively assisted teammates to score, once narrowing the point difference to single digits. But after the Pelicans switched back to Brandon Ingram and Eric Bledsoe, the Wizards fell into a scoring drought again. In nearly 5 minutes, Beal only scored 2 points with a tip, and the game completely lost suspense.
After Beal dropped the ball and made a mistake in the last 2 minutes and 10 seconds, the wizard gave up resistance and replaced him, and he sat on the bench with his hands spread out with a dull expression. The media and fans have long called for the Wizards to trade Beal for a complete rebuild. Now it should be painful for both sides to fight like this.
After the game, his wife Kamiah also tweeted angrily: “Enough is enough.” And Kendrick Perkins also shouted to Beal: “Brother, you have given enough loyalty to the wizard! It’s time!”
