The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri mentioned the issue of new people in power wanting to act like the New Order (Order) in his speech. Responding to this, the General Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep said he did not experience the New Order because he was still at an early age at that time.
Initially, Kaesang asked journalists who Megawati meant by ‘ruler’. “Yes, we… Who is the ruler first? Who defines the ruler? Who,” asked Kaesang to journalists in Menteng, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/11/2023).
He then asked again whether currently those who insulted President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) were being arrested. Kaesang then explained that if there was law enforcement, the insults would have gone too far.
“Friends, I said on social media, if you say something insulting to the President, will you be arrested or not? OK, arrested, when the insult goes too far. But is there a discussion forum, or whatever it is called, until someone arrests or does something like that? No? is there?” said Kaesang.
He then said he didn’t understand the definition Order what Megawati meant. Kaesang admitted that during the New Order he was still at an early age so he did not experience that period.
“I am No know what the definition of the New Order was like before. Because I haven’t experienced it myself. “Because at that time I was still small, so I didn’t experience it,” continued Kaesang.
Megawati Soekarnoputri previously touched on the New Order issue when attending the Ganjar-Mahfud Volunteer National Coordination Meeting at Jiexpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Megawati encouraged the volunteers to win the Ganjar-Mahfud pair.
“Mother (said herself -ed) shouldn’t have said that, but she was already annoyed. Do you know why? The Republic is full of sacrifices, don’t you know? Why do you, who have just come to power, want to act like the old days? the new order?” said Megawati when giving directions at the Ganjar-Mahfud volunteer national coordination meeting at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Monday (27/11).
“Isn’t that right? Independence, independence, independence. Do we win…? Reward-Mahfud for one round…?” Mega added, greeted boisterously by the volunteers.
