TV Tokyo revealed on Friday that Kaede Hondo will be the voice of Nanjamo (Iono in English) in “Pokémon Horizons: The Series“, the new anime of the Pokémon franchise. Iono is a popular streamer and Gym Leader of the Levincia Gym. The character will debut in the anime’s episode that will air on July 28.

The anime follows two new protagonists named Liko and Roy. The anime features Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly from the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, and also features the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza in its shiny form. The anime also features new characters Friede and Captain Pikachu, a duo of a Pokémon professor and his partner Pokémon who will fight alongside Liko and Roy.
The anime premiered in Japan on April 14 with a one-hour special episode. The show airs on Fridays at 6:55 p.m.
The English dub of the anime is “coming soon.”
Saori Den (Mirage Queen Prefers Circus) is directing the anime, and Daiki Tomiyasu (Pokémon Sun & Moon, Pocket Monster Mezase Pokémon Master) is the creative director. Dai Sato ( Eureka Seven , Wolf’s Rain , Samurai Champloo , Cowboy Bebop ) is supervising the series scripts. Tetsuo Yajima is the action director, Rei Yamazaki is the character designer, and Kyōko Itō is the sub-character designer. Masafumi Mima is the sound director and Conisch is composing the music.
