Yesterday evening left Minister Kaag with a delegation to Qatar. The Netherlands wants to restart evacuations of Dutch people and Afghans who have worked for Dutch people as soon as possible. After Qatar, the minister will also visit Pakistan and Turkey.
No recognition
Several European countries, including Germany, are already in contact with the Taliban. The Dutch cabinet has previously said that it will not shy away from talks with the radical Islamic movement if this is necessary for Dutch interests.
Minister Kaag always emphasizes that talks with the Taliban do not mean recognition of the new regime in Afghanistan.
