Thrissur: Writer and translator KP Balachandran (81) passed away. Scholar K. KP, son of Prakash. Balachandran Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Taslima Nasrin, D.H. Translated the books of Lawrence and Victor Hugo into Malayalam. Awarded by the Kerala Institute of Children’s Literature for Outstanding Translation.
He was born in 1939 in Manalur, Thrissur. Educated at Engineering College, Thiruvananthapuram and University of Mysore. He is also famous as an engineer and historian. He has published 91 books, including 15 history books. The last book to be translated was the complete works of Sherlock Holmes published by Mathrubhumi Books. Wife: Dr. Santha Balachandran. Children: Vinod KB, Anand KB Daughters-in-law: Rajini and Sonia.
