Jyoti Amge, the world’s shortest woman, celebrated her birthday on December 16. She turned 30 years old.
A native of India, whose height is 62.8 cm, the woman entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2011.
Until the age of five, she was of average height. However, at that point it became apparent that her growth was being stunted by an illness. It was later discovered that he had a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and would never grow up.
From the age of four, Jyoti attended school alongside children of normal height, although she was provided with a table and chair suitable for her small stature.
She first caught the world’s attention in 2009, when she appeared on the show Bikkuri Chojin 100 Special No.2.
Her weight is only 4 kg higher than her birth weight – 5.4 kg.
All of Jyoti’s clothes and jewelry are custom made. Even the plates and utensils are specially made for her, as regular-sized silverware is too big.
But despite her small stature, Amge is not the shortest woman in history. The title is held by Pauline Masters (Netherlands, 1876-1895), who was only 61 cm tall.
