GridHEALTH.id – Monkeypox or monkeypox, is a viral infection caused by the monkeypox virus.
It is a milder and less serious relative of the virus that causes smallpox. If we have been exposed to it, within 3 weeks we will notice flu-like symptoms along with a rash that may look like pimples or blisters.
There is no specific treatment or treatment for monkeypox. But research suggests the smallpox vaccine may provide protection against monkeypox.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved two smallpox vaccines, JYNNEOS and ACAM2000, which can help prevent monkeypox. This vaccine is considered most effective if taken before or immediately after exposure to the virus.
To handle monkeypox epidemic current and slowing the spread, the FDA has approved two vaccines:
1. JYNNEOS
Also called Imvamune or Imvanex, this vaccine contains live vaccinia virus designed to prevent infection in those at high risk of monkeypox.
This is a two-dose vaccine that is required 4 weeks apart. The injections are given under the skin and usually do not cause a reaction.
It takes about 14 days after the second dose for the body to build a strong immune response to the virus.

JYNNEOS is safe to use if a person has HIV. It is also safe if you have eczema or other skin conditions, or have other conditions that weaken the immune system.
