Emre Can reminisces his best moments while in Juventus. The man in costume Borussia Dortmund he felt the Bianconeri had saved him from cancer.
The German midfielder joined Juventus from Liverpool in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer. Emre Can was then loaned to Dortmund in 2019/2022 and is now a permanent move.
Emre Can did not have a smooth start with Juventus. After a few months in Turin he had to undergo surgery and it was related to thyroid cancer.
Thyroid cancer is caused by the uncontrolled growth of cells in the thyroid gland. In its early stages, thyroid cancer generally does not cause typical symptoms.
“I have thyroid cancer and I need surgery urgently,” he told DAZN as quoted by Tuttosport.
“It has changed my life a lot. You can have a lot of money, you can have everything, but health is the most important thing.”
The results of an early diagnosis from the Juventus medical team prevented Emre Can from experiencing anything more dangerous. For that action, he was very grateful.
“It’s part of life and I recommend that everyone get checked, no matter how healthy a person thinks, if you know these things in time, you can act. I am very grateful to the Juventus doctors,” Emre Can said.
“They called me two months after my medical with the club. I didn’t know what was going on, I didn’t even know what thyroid was and I never imagined I had cancer. The move to Turin was worth it.”
